Working in Kuwait

Kuwait's job market

Kuwait's economy is almost entirely driven by oil β€” the country holds around 6% of global reserves. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries (KPC, KOC, KNPC, PIC) are the dominant employers and consistently pay some of the highest oil and gas salaries in the Gulf.

Beyond oil, the government runs a massive public sector. Healthcare, education, and infrastructure are all substantial employers. The private sector is smaller than in UAE or Qatar but growing, particularly in telecoms, banking, and construction.

The working week is Sunday to Thursday. Most expats live in suburban areas like Salmiya, Rumaithiya, and Fintas. International schools are widely available and strong.
